Introducing Woodwork for Inventor V16: Smarter Design. Faster Workflow.

Launch on June 2nd

Explore new design, CAM, nesting, and drafting enhancements for a more streamlined woodworking experience.

Explore the new features in Woodwork for Inventor V16, bringing major improvements to design, machining, and nesting. It’s built to automate repetitive tasks, enhance precision, and streamline your workflow. Discover how these tools can save you hours on every project.

Design Enhancements

Duplicate Part Identification

Introduced functionality to identify duplicate parts within assemblies. The feature analyzes part geometry to determine identical shapes. Additionally, a geometry snapshot tool allows tracking of geometric states before and after design modifications, highlighting parts whose geometry changed versus those remaining unchanged.

Enhanced Build Structure Mechanism

Redesigned "Build Structure" now includes automatic edge rounding, creating part models with realistic rounded edges. Radius settings can be customized through the "Material Groups Creation" feature.

Improved iBox Integration

Streamlined the creation, insertion, and editing of iBoxes. Now, users can directly manage iBox configurations via user-defined iLogic forms.

Material Assignment in Assemblies

Materials from W4INV can now be assigned directly to sheet metal components within an assembly, eliminating the previous need to open parts separately.

Material Substitution Configuration Management

A new intuitive method for managing material substitution configurations has been implemented. Each configuration now includes a timestamp, allowing easy viewing, filtering, and deletion from a single interface.

Project-Specific Component Libraries

iBox and Smart Hardware component libraries can now be stored within the project space, facilitating a smoother transition to working with Vault-based projects.

CAM Improvements

Mill Style Application & Pocket Operations

Implemented support for Mill Styles in pocket operations. Finish contours can now be machined with multiple tools, and open pockets can utilize plunge-cutting tools.

Spline Interpretation via BiArc Arcs

Added a mechanism to interpret splines using BiArc arcs, enabling the creation of tangent-connected arc tool paths for improved machining accuracy.

Arc Ramp Milling

Introduced arc ramping for milling tools, facilitating smoother tool entry into material.

Nesting Optimization

Advanced Part Layout Optimization

Integrated a new layout optimization algorithm using the open-source Deep Nest technology, significantly improving part nesting efficiency on sheets.

Drawing Automation

Advanced Part Layout Optimization

Added an intelligent projection mechanism that automatically creates necessary part projections based on part geometry and hole placement, streamlining the drafting process.
